Our Value Additions:

1. The NPPES data are pre-processed and converted to normalized data structure to eliminate the issues with huge NPPES file size, number of records and number of columns.

2. The exceptions flagged during our data pre-processing and conversion processes will be supplied along with the provider data files to help the customers with additional information. Some of the exceptions, captured, are:

     - Providers with no taxonomies
     - Providers with no other ids
     - Providers with suspicious address records
     - Typos within the data

3. NPIDS have added more field columns in some of the data files to have normalized file structure, to make data records unique and to accommodate derived descriptions of the data to help our customers for the practical use of the data set in their systems and environments.

The provider data in NPIDS data sets are taken directly from monthly updates from the National Plan & Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), an agency of the US federal government. NPIDS is not responsible for the quality and timeliness of NPPES data. NPIDS might add few columns in some of the files to have normalized data and to accommodate derived descriptions of the data, which would help the customers for the practical use of the dataset in their systems and environments.
