OUR PHILOSOPHY

NPI Data Services (NPIDS) is dedicated to providing uncompromising high-quality data services and products to health care community. A commitment to quality is reflected in every facet of NPIDS products and services, from creating market-driven product requirements to delivering responsive, proactive technical support. Quality data holds down costs. Avoiding mistakes and rework saves valuable time, resources and effort.

Quality Processes, Tools, Controls and Measurements

NPIDS recognizes that in order to maintain and improve quality, an organization needs to posses standard, repeatable processes, controls to enforce these processes, tools to support these processes, and measurements to gauge the effectiveness of the processes.

     • NPIDS has implemented a role-based software development lifecycle which stresses the importance of responsibilities,
ownership, and deliverables to ensure a successful project/product.
     • Project milestones, functional reviews, design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, integrated testing and three isolated
environments (development, test and production) are all examples of some of the controls that we have implemented.
     • We utilize case management software, source-code repositories, automated software building and automated testing tools
      to streamline the process.
     • Project audits and lessons learned are conducted to continually identify opportunities for improvement.

The provider data in NPIDS data sets are taken directly from monthly updates from the National Plan & Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), an agency of the US federal government. NPIDS is not responsible for the quality and timeliness of NPPES data. NPIDS might add few columns in some of the files to have normalized data and to accommodate derived descriptions of the data, which would help the customers for the practical use of the dataset in their systems and environments.
