PECOS (Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System) is CMS's database of all providers and suppliers enrolled in the Medicare program. Only PECOS-enrolled providers can bill Medicare for their services. The PECOS system is the authoritative source for Medicare enrollment verification.
